A Suitcase Full of Discoveries
Somewhere in the world a child is reading a very special book, a magical book… and is thrown head-over-heels into an exciting adventure that takes him or her to another country - where things can be quite different! Stijn from the Netherlands ended up in England for Guy Fawkes Night, while Ann-Kathrin from Germany found herself all of a sudden in the Netherlands where she helped sell cakes on Queen’s Day. Curious how they managed these intercultural encounters? Buy your copy at www.lulu.com/content/971756 (printing costs only) or download a free pdf of the book here.
The first book of the intercultural children’s book series “A Suitcase Full of Discoveries” was published in September 2008 in English (www.lulu.com/content/971756), containing ‘The Disappearance of Guy Fawkes’ and ‘Crumbs in Alkmaar’. This intercultural children’s book (for children aged 8 -12) hopes to raise awareness of the many exciting cultural differences that exist in this world. We hope the stories will inspire discussions as well as reflections on your own culture, and/or any other cultures that you might have had a chance to encounter! 10 years Young SIETAR 1997 - 2007
In 2007 Young SIETAR celebrated its 10th anniversary. At Young SIETAR’s 10th congress in Cairo (November 2009), the book “10 years Young SIETAR 1997 – 2007” was officially presented. This book looks back at ten very creative years and lists many of our activities together with quotes of Young SIETARians and supporters who have contributed to Young SIETAR. Here is a quote of one of our supporters:
“I would say that this is one of the most energetic, creative, and positive groups I have ever seen. I love how a group of young people dared to believe they could make a difference and find ways to meet the needs they had for their generation by creating a way and space that reflected their time and culture, while still tapping in to those who had walked before them”.
